My approach

My name is Jinny Gupta (UKCP reg.) and I am a psychotherapist with a private practice in West London. I offer therapy to adults, online and in-person.

Please reach out if any of the below rings true for you:

  • depression and/or anxiety, low or irritable mood

  • an eating disorder, or wondering about your relationship with food

  • issues in your relationships - at home, work, social life or, indeed, with your self

  • body image

  • image of yourself in the world outside

  • finding meaning in your life, questioning your purpose of being here

  • moving into the next phase of your life - becoming a parent, grandparent or having recently lost someone important in your life

  • recurring thoughts about death and your (un)lived life

  • having had an intense experience that has woken up something inside you through psychedelics, meditation or other practices

By combining evidence-based techniques with more creative, experiential methods, such as mindfulness and meditation, I can help you gain clarity and insight into your experience. The philosophies and theories that guide my practice include Gestalt and Existential approaches, Jungian theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I work with you in the here and now, meaning we investigate what is most important for you right this moment. Where appropriate, I help you bring attention to your past and your body so you can deepen your understanding of yourself.

You might like to undertake short-term work to move through a specific issue where you've been feeling stuck for a while. Here, I find a more directive approach helpful, however, always respecting your autonomy and freedom.

If any of this stirs some curiosity in you, please go ahead and contact me

Qualifications and experience

I completed my training in psychotherapy at Regent's University, London and hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (ADIP, dist.). I also hold a Master's in Economic Development and Policy Analysis from the University of Nottingham. A student of the Enneagram, I am currently in training to become a typing practitioner.

In addition to private practice, I offer clinical support at Orri's (Eating Disorder Treatment Clinic) outpatient unit as well as to NHS frontline workers. As a supervisor at Headstrong Counselling in London, I facilitate the clinical process for therapists-in-training.

I am trained as a Mindfulness and Meditation teacher (in the Buddhist Rinzai Zen tradition, Zenways), and offer bespoke courses to individuals and groups who are wishing to start or deepen their meditation practice. Please check my website for upcoming events and workshops.

In the past, I have worked in various mental-health settings such as West London NHS Trust (WLNT), MIND-Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing Abbey Counselling Service (EACS) and West London Centre for Counselling (WLCC). Prior to this, I worked as an Economist and Healthcare advisor for more than a decade within the government and private sectors in India, Malawi and Iceland.

I undertake regular therapy and supervision and keep myself updated on the latest developments  in both  psychology and spirituality in order to meet the client's needs as safely and fully as possible. I abide by UKCP's code of Ethics and Professional Practice. My practice is compliant with the Data Protection Act 1998, and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
